The first printing technology has been found in China, Japan and Korea. These had a system where books were printed by hand.

In China from the year 594 onwards Books were printed by rubbing paper against an inked woodblocks, both the sides of a paper were printed and and stitched at the side , these were called as "Chinese Accordion Book".

as in the past print was not only available to the scholars, it is also available to merchants and other people in the society, which led to the development of usage of print for stories, poetry, leisure time reading activity, writing plays, and many rich women started to publish their poetry and plays, many scholars started recording there knowledge and others started publishing there biographies.

By the 19th Century all these were accompanied by the Western printing technology arrived at the shanghai nurturing the new Print culture which led to a massive improvements in print technology but also caused a huge changes in the society, Ideas, Schooling system, old printing mechanism
